It’s the type of home that makes you feel like an adult-sized Barbie doll.

You can’t tell from the outside but walking in the front door at 2 Kinkora Place, Queanbeyan, is literally like stepping into a pink candy dream: from the kitchen to the laundry to the sitting room to – wait for it – the backyard hose.

The five-bedroom, two-bathroom home in Queanbeyan’s west was once an apartment block of three. Current owner Jill bought the property in 2019 and combined the three units into one. The result is literally a Barbie dream house, with rooms simply ‘for creating’, stunning views from the top floor windows and the most gorgeous plush pink circular bench seat in the bottom floor bay window.

Located on an 847 square metre block, the “maximalist” home on Kinkora Place is now for sale under sad circumstances.

Jill’s daughter Jo – who lived in the home with Jill and is the creative visionary behind the stunning design of the house – recently lost her battle with breast cancer. Jo adored pink: it reminded her of love and romance.

While Jill adores being in the magical home she created with her daughter, she knows it’s time to help it find a new custodian.

Sales consultant Bianca Way from home.by holly says she feels “incredibly lucky” to be marketing such a unique Queanbeyan property.

“The vibe is undeniable, there is only joy in this space,” Bianca says.

“I think ultimately it will appeal to a creative buyer, someone who wants to use the massive garage as an art studio.

“Maybe they run a small business from home, someone who makes a statement and isn’t afraid to take risks.

“Queanbeyan is full of creatives and artisans, so I think the possibilities of this home will be the real appeal.”

But what if your ‘Ken’ isn’t really into pink? Could you really convince someone who wasn’t into a fairy floss-style kitchen to buy the home?

“The key thing to look at here is that the fixtures and fittings of the home are so stunning,” Bianca says.

“The pink is elegant and understated, so if a lot of pink isn’t for you, a lick of paint on the walls would tone it down just enough to let you appreciate all the pink goodness on a slightly smaller scale.”

The home at 2 Kinkora Place, Queanbeyan, will be auctioned at 9am on Saturday 4 December 2021. View the listing on Zango.
