We love to support local and there are so many awesome businesses in Queanbeyan that’s a pretty easy thing to do!

Here’s a list of seven businesses we think are totally worth the money in 2023.

1. Delizia Naturally

Queanbeyan woman Delizia was inspired by her Italian ancestors to leave her corporate job and start up her own small business making all-natural soaps and skincare.

Delizia’s grandparents made soaps in the mountains of Italy, using left over lard and cooking oil. Now, her own soap products are sold online across Australia and popular for their use of 100 per cent grass-fed tallow, derived from sheep and cows.

Delizia has a range of beautiful products from lip balms to face cream and shampoo bars, all naturally sourced and hand made. “The process I use originates from an era where nothing was wasted, and there was an innate respect for end to end produce,” Delizia says.

2. Russell Automotive

Established in 2020 by Queanbeyan mechanic Clint Russell, this is a successful business repairing and servicing the cars of Queanbeyan (no doubt a lot of VL Commodores in the mix).

Clint completed his apprenticeship in 2006 at Langes Automotive and also did a stint in truck driving. Located in central Queanbeyan, Russell Automotive is known for going the extra mile (see what we did there) for their customers, making sure they’re safe on the road. If that wasn’t enough, Clint was recently given kudos on the Queanbeyan Noticeboard for stopping and assisting in a head-on collision on Pialligo Ave. What a top bloke.

3. Ebony May Bakes

This 19-year-old Queanbeyan entrepreneur has been baking since she was just 13-years-old and launched Ebony May Bakes in 2020.

Ebony sells her delicious cakes at local markets, including the Queanbeyan Markets, and also has a website for online orders. Ebony May’s cakes range from crystal cakes, Halloween and Christmas-themed  cupcakes all the way to stunning wedding cakes. You can even watch her make and decorate her cakes on her social media channels. Super impressive young woman!

Some of their gorgeous work includes mirrors, custom letters and kitchen items such as canisters and chopping boards. Crossy Designz also makes stunning First Nations dolls with traditional face paint and hand made clothes.

5. Konti PT

Proud Queanbeyan resident Steven Kontowicz runs a punishing (in a good way) PT service from his fully-equipped home gym in Beatty Crescent.

Steven works with his clients to achieve individual results and offers home workouts, nutrition plans and high-intensity, full body training. If you’re lucky his super cute spoodle Romeo will join you for your workout. Some of his famous Queanbeyan clients have included Matty Griffin and Mayor Kenrick Winchester, with some impressive results we must say.

7. Queanbeyan Engines

Look, we honestly don’t know that much about engines. But we do know that Queanbeyan Engines has over 1000 instagram followers, so they must be doing something right?!

Tim and the boys at Queanbeyan Engines specialise in engine reconditioning and are performance specialists in drag, circuit and marine racing. They make mean reels of shiny pistons and valve notches that would get any rev head hot under the collar, so go check them out on instagram, or visit them in person on Carrington Street.
