In the garage of her home on Nimmitabel Place, Queanbeyan’s Sue Cleary has boxes and boxes of photo albums you have to see to believe.

The (almost) complete archival set of photos from every Queanbeyan Sacred Heart Debutante Ball since 1966. It’s a who’s who of the town’s finest young women and their uncomfortable-looking male partners, mostly aged around 16.

There are pics of tiny debs at the Miniature Debutante Ball of 1988 and older debs in the Mature Debutante Ball held the same year (both in the brand spanking new Bicentennial Hall).
