Liz Lea brings sparkle, sass and a whole lot of laughter to The Q with ‘Diamond’
Queanbeyan is about to get a whole lot sparklier. Award‑winning dance artist Liz Lea is set to premiere her brand new one‑woman show Diamond at The Q from 6–8 August — and it promises to be loud, lively and absolutely packed with personality.
Blending contemporary dance, song, cabaret and just a cheeky touch of burlesque, Diamond dives head‑first into the rollercoaster of ageing, resilience and the dazzling complexity of womanhood. Lea leads audiences through glamour, mischief and moments of raw honesty, celebrating the brilliance that emerges as we grow, shift and shine in new ways.

And she’s not holding back.
“I’m super excited to bring this work to the stage. Diamond is a wild foray through the rollercoaster of ageing and a love letter to the audience,” Lea says.
“The work will be loud, lively and full of laughter. I’m thrilled to be working with a brilliant team to shape a work that cracks into and through the madness of menopause and creating our futures through the magic of movement.
The show is the second in a trilogy, following Lea’s internationally toured hit RED, which wowed audiences across four countries over five years. For Diamond, Lea will be joined by special guest performers: expect surprises, mayhem and a few deliciously theatrical twists.

Accessibility is front and centre, with Auslan interpretation offered for both Saturday shows and audio description available Friday and Saturday (with six headsets per performance). It’s part of Lea’s long‑standing commitment to inclusive arts practice, which has seen her lead national programs, advise major companies and develop new audio‑description technologies.
Diamond arrives under The Q’s much‑loved Q the Locals banner — the initiative championing homegrown talent and giving local artists the chance to develop and present new work with strong venue support. Since launching in 2022, it has backed 13 full productions, eight developments and more than 120 creatives across the region.
With its mix of humour, heart and high‑energy sparkle, Diamond is shaping up to be one of the brightest gems in The Q’s 2026 season.
Diamond runs 6–8 August at The Q. Head to The Q website for tickets and details.
