A new real estate experience for Queanbeyan: Jen and Greg Ward go out on their own
It’s little wonder both Greg and Jen Ward are ‘people people’.
Their dad Tony, who owned a cab in Queanbeyan for almost two decades, is a true conversationalist and an avid lover of the town. His son and daughter inherited both of those things.
“We’re both born and bred in Queanbeyan,” Jen says.
“We’re brother and sister and our mum, Maureen, was born here 80 years ago. She went to St Gregory’s Primary School in the late 1940s, and all four of us kids followed in her footsteps.”
If one of the Ward siblings hasn’t sold your house previously, you probably know someone whose house they have sold. The duo have sold more than 1000 homes across Queanbeyan, Jerrabomberra and Googong during a combined 27 years in real estate.
Now, they’ve decided to go out on their own. After 10 years with McGrath Estate Agents for Greg, and four for Jen, Ward Estate Agents is officially in its second week of operation and Jen and Greg are loving it.
“We’ve got a lot of history in this town and we want to capitalise on that – people know us and we want to just step out from behind a brand,” Jen says.
“It’s never lost on us that somebody gives us their biggest asset and we’ve got one opportunity to get the best price for them. We don’t take that lightly and we’re never complacent.”
Ward Estate Agents will service Queanbeyan, Jerrabomberra, Googong and beyond, with Jen describing the brother/sister partnership as “special”.
“It’s a really neutral relationship with no tension, we’re like an extension of each other,” Jen says.
“He’s not only my brother but also my dear friend that I can go to on a personal level.
“We do have barneys occasionally where we lock horns but I can tell you they don’t happen often and we get over it quickly and have a laugh – mostly because I’m always right.”
Greg says he’s looking forward to bringing a new property sales and marketing experience to his hometown.
“We’re a boutique agency, family-owned and we’re all about quality over quantity,” he says.
“There are no egos at Ward Estate Agents, at every single open home you’ll have Jen and I standing at your door, welcoming people in.
“I’ve always been a straight talker and our ethos is about just looking after people, treating them like human beings and respecting that for a lot of people, it’s a very emotional transaction.”
