All our Christmases have come at once – a North Pole experience is coming to Canberra!

What if it was possible to whisk your kids to the North Pole for a visit to see a life-size polar bear and Santa’s helpers busy in the present-wrapping room?

Well now it is! Say hello to North Pole Lane, a 400sqm immersive Christmas experience coming to Southpoint Shopping Centre, Tuggeranong, from 1 November 2022.

Children (and their parents) enter the North Pole storybook to explore a world like no other – from the snow forest to the North Pole Lane Princess and her life size polar bear Mishka. And then of course there’s the big man in red – Santa Claus!

North Pole Lane is the vision of Ministry of Events founder Mindy Dominick, a Murrumbateman resident who has dreamt of providing an immersive Christmas experience for the children of Canberra for almost a decade. This year Mindy gave up her midwifery career at The Canberra Hospital to work on North Pole Lane, her first self-funded event.

But this Christmas wish almost didn’t come true. Two months ago Mindy was diagnosed with breast cancer and needed to begin treatment. When all seemed lost, her best friend Christine Bain (a true Christmas elf) took time off from her own midwifery career to help with North Pole Lane.

“It would be such a loss for Canberra to miss out on this experience – it’s sure to create beautiful Christmas memories,” Christine says.

Exploring North Pole Lane takes between 30 and 60 minutes and includes life-size moving reindeer and a stop at the North Pole Lane Post Office to write a letter to Santa. You can even have a photo with St Nicholas in his very own lounge room!

Highlights of North Pole Lane include moving animatronic animals, Santa’s wrapping room, writing a letter to Santa in the North Pole post office, costumed actors telling a Christmas story, visiting Santa in his living room and getting sensory-friendly Santa photos.

North Pole Lane is a ticketed event due to the theatrical nature of the experience. Santa photos can be purchased at an additional cost to the event.
