Two years in, a lot has changed for the Ward Estate Agents team
From the day they launched Ward Estate Agents, Greg and Jen Ward have felt “like Queanbeyan has definitely had our backs”.
The well-known siblings celebrated two years in business last month and reckon the support they’ve had locally has been a huge part of their success.
“The Queanbeyan community likes to support its own,” Jen says.
“And we’re truly humbled by that support.
“People value that we are born and bred and live here. Our growth has surprised even us. We’re grateful to those who took a chance on us and entrusted us with the sale of their homes.”
A lot has changed in the two years since the famous red and white Ward ‘For sale’ signs hit the front yards of Queanbeyan, Jerrabomberra, Googong and Canberra. Six months in, Jen’s daughter Maddie Holst joined the business as office manager.
Maddie, a licensed agent in her own right, has now been in the industry for five years and originally came on board to project manage the imagery required for the exceptional marketing of properties.
“Maddie has a graphic design background and therefore is in charge of all our marketing and the management of all our social media,” Jen says.
In sad news, the siblings lost their dad Tony earlier this year. Tony owned a cab in Queanbeyan for almost two decades, and was a true conversationalist and Queanbeyan devotee. His son and daughter inherited both of those things.
And then there’s Greg’s new hairdo.
“I had to shave it,” he laughs. “I was sick of my ‘toupe’ flying in the wind.”
The energy they bring to each and every listing is a big part of the agency’s success, according to Maddie. Clients also love the first class marketing of their properties and the processes they’ve implemented.
“We’re authentic and down to earth,” Maddie says.
“I think they welcome our candid approach to selling and appreciate simple honest advice. People really like that we’re a small family-owned boutique business that’s super focused on selling homes.”
After owning a franchise for close to 10 years, Greg says he loves the flexibility of owning an independent agency: including being able to put his own style and stamp on things and tailor marketing to suit clients and their properties.
Exceptional customer service will continue be a huge focus in the future of the business.
“We want to continue to support local businesses, give back to local charities and create a lovely and flexible working environment for our staff,” he says.
“It’s important to have happy staff as they’re the backbone of our business.”
