Queanbeyan Monopoly is coming, but will your business score a spot on the board?
The race is officially on for 26 local businesses to immortalise themselves in what is set to become a truly iconic piece of local memorabilia.
Monopoly: Queanbeyan Edition is being produced by Rise Above Capital Region Cancer Relief in a bid to raise much-needed funds for local families facing cancer. Local businesses will have the chance to purchase a spot on the board (it’s the Mayfair spot for us) and claim a permanent place in the story of Queanbeyan.
Queanbeyan Monopoly is the vision of Rise Above volunteer and fierce local Jane Vucago, who says: “this town has personality, history and enough characters to fill a whole Monopoly board easily”.
“I’m born and bred in Queanbeyan – still here, still loving it and still defending it like it’s a full-time job,” Jane laughs.

“The idea really started at home. My family were huge board game people. And when I say competitive … look, you try growing up in an Australian‑Fijian household. Competition is basically a love language.
“All my siblings were naturally good at sport, so even Monopoly felt like a high‑stakes athletic event. There were alliances, betrayals, dramatic victories – the whole thing.”
Jane raised the idea of designing a Queanbeyan Monopoly board as a way to raise funds and the response was a resounding yes.
For those looking to claim a piece of the action, there are 26 property tiles up for grabs via online auction, along with 32 Chance or Community Chest cards.

“We want the board to genuinely reflect our community, our businesses and the people who make this region what it is,” Jane says.
To ensure the game is authentic, the auction is restricted to those with a valid ABN based in Queanbeyan, Carwoola, Jerrabomberra or Googong. The specific Queanbeyan landmarks that will make the board remain a secret, and Jane says even the moving tokens are getting a custom makeover that is “very us.”
The Queanbeyan Monopoly online auction kicks off at 8am on Monday 13 April 2026. Businesses can bid for their favourite spots or use the “Buy It Now” option for selected spaces to bypass the stress of a bidding war.

Every dollar raised goes directly to supporting local families facing cancer.
So how much is hoping to be raised from via the board game?
“As much as Queanbeyan can dream up,” Jane says.
“If we can put Queanbeyan on the Monopoly map and help our community at the same time, that’s a win bigger than owning Mayfair!”
Queanbeyan Monopoly will be produced by official makers Winning Moves and is set to land in November – just in time for Christmas. To register for the online auction, visit the Rise Above website at riseabovecbr.org.au
