5 things to do in and around Queanbeyan this weekend (22-23 January 2022)

Our wrap of the best events coming up this weekend.

Grease (sing-a-long) at The Sunset Cinema

“Those Su-hummer Niiii-iiiiiights”. Come on, we’ve all belted out this absolute gem on a dance floor in Queanbeyan in the late evening (or very early morning). Or recklessly stomped our feet to the Grease Megamix. This movie event might be a little more subdued but it’s the perfect way to introduce the kids to the rocky (and very musical) relationship of Danny Zuko and Sandy Olsson. I got chills.

When: Saturday 22 January 2022, movie starts at 8.20pm
Where: Australian National Botanic Gardens
How much? Adult $21, Concession $17, Child $14
Tickets: http://www.sunsetcinema.com.au/screening/grease-sing-a-long-canberra-on-2022-01-22

Rottweiler Canberra/Queanbeyan meetup

Sorry folks but you do have to be the owner of a Rotty to attend this one. We plan to just stand with our faces pressed against the fence, watching the gorgeous pups play.

When: Saturday 22 January 2022, 1pm
Where: Scar Dog Park, Southbar Road, Queanbeyan
How much? Free
Tickets: Not required, just turn up with your pooch

A day of jet-skiing in Batemans Bay

Your fella probably fancies himself as a bit of a David Hasselhoff (or Dwayne Johnson – depends how old you are) hunk on the beaches down the coast but until he can jet ski, he’s not even coming close to anyone’s Baywatch fantasy.

If you’ve always wanted to try jet-skiing, this is your chance. Not specifically an event, just an awesome option for those down the coast at Batemans Bay having a very long, long Australia Day weekend.

Who: Jetski Hire Batemans Bay
Where: Corrigans Cove Resort, 204 Beach Road, Batehaven
How much? Jet Ski hire cost is $45 for 15 mins / $80 for 30 mins / $140 for an hour

NFL at Top Pub

Hmm, what to do in the NRL off-season? Get on the NFL baby! The playoffs are about to start in the United States and the Green Bay Packers take on the San Francisco 49ers this Sunday at 12.15pm AEST. Top Pub will have it on the big screen, and if you’re keen to stick around afterward, they’re showing UFC270: the Ngannou v Zane fight from 2.30pm.

When: Sunday 23 January 2022, from 12.15pm
Where: Hotel Queanbeyan

Bad Boys 4 Life (ladies’ entertainers)

Fans of Jason Moama will love this – there’s a bloke in the Bad Boys lineup who looks exactly like the Aquaman and Game of Thrones star. His fellow dancers are pretty easy on the eye too. The Bad Boys dancers have been an institution in Australia for more than 20 years. We can’t tell if these are the sons of the original dancers or a rebel group of those who were fired from the real Bad Boys crew. Either way, it beats watching Magic Mike for the 99,000th time. (This is strictly an 18+ event.)

When: Saturday 22 January 2022, 7pm
Where: Hellenic Club, Canberra
How much? General admission $45, VIP $65
