Roos Club function room completely unrecognisable as new ‘2620 Brewery’

Roos Club function room completely unrecognisable as new ‘2620 Brewery’

The all-new 2620 Brewery at Queanbeyan Kangaroos Club opened to the public last week, and trust me when I tell you it’s not like anything we’ve ever had Queanbeyan.

The spacious 900sqm bar and restaurant – formerly the function room where you probably had your 21st or wedding – boasts a range of craft beers, top-of-the-range wines and stunning food options.

The old “auditorium” function room that existed at the back of the Roos Club has been transformed into a contemporary venue. Providing a unique experience, the club is hoping to attract new patrons for a drink or a meal with family and friends.

The airy indoor space has floor-to-ceiling windows and a vaulted ceiling that lets in the sunshine and opens up in warmer weather. The styling is super modern and elegant, with timber floorboards, an incredible tiled bar and comfortable couches.

“What’s also unique is that the cool room is on display, so you can see where your beer is coming from,” Queanbeyan Kangaroos Club manager Ryan Young says.

The highlight of the new space is a menu curated and cooked by famous local chef Scott Gooch. It features a range of share platters and bite-sized mezedes/cicchetti that pair perfectly with a couple of Sunday bevvies. Food can be ordered at the bar or via the QR code provided on tables.

Live entertainment will be provided Friday, Saturday and Sunday with a chilled acoustic type vibe, allowing people to enjoy the tunes while still talking among friends.

“It’s a completely different offering, all craft beer and quality wines,” Ryan says.

“We’re trying to offer something to Queanbeyan, a unique experience with purely craft beers including Bilson, Seltzers, some Underground Spirits and cocktails, we love that the menu is a completely different offering too.”

The Brewery is family-friendly with a ‘backyard’ that includes a grassed area with a cubby and playground, and heaps of seating for the adults.

Don’t stress: you can still hold special parties in the back area of the club. The newly-refurbished space has a built-in separate function room that can cater for up to 80 people and comes with its own bar, perfect for a birthday, engagement or christening.

Ryan says staff and locals have been really enthusiastic about the new venue so far.

“It’s totally different to what we’ve had before, and it’s already attracting new people to the club,” he says.

“We want people to know that they don’t have to go to Kingston and Braddon to enjoy this sort of atmosphere, it’s all here in Queanbeyan now.”
